Weather alert: Tropical depression forms south of Puerto Rico

Tropical depression forms in Caribbean Sea. NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER

A tropical depression has formed in the Caribbean Sea south of Puerto Rico, according to the National Hurricane Center.

As of 5 p.m. EDT, the depression was about 130 miles south of San Juan Puerto Rico and about 205 miles southeast of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, according to the Hurricane Center.

Maximum sustained winds were about 35 mph, and was moving northwest at 9 mph.
