Weather alert: Storms moving through Manatee

MANATEE -- A line of showers and thunderstorms moving through the region could produce gusty winds, locally heavy rain and dangerous lightning, according to the National Weather Service.

At 11:11 a.m., the storms were developing along the sea breeze boundary, and were expected to affect Parrish, central and eastern Hillsborough County, Myakka River State Park, North Port, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda until 12:15 p.m., according to the Weather Service.

Torrential rain will cause ponding of water on road, and minor flooding in poorly drained areas, according to the Weather Service.
