Manatee teen shot in armed robbery attempt

MANATEE -- An armed robbery with injury of a 19-year-old male occurred in the 300 block of 60th Avenue East at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his left hand. He said he was walking to a friend's house about a block away from home when he was approached by two males, including one armed with a firearm.

The victim told deputies he grabbed at the gun and the revolver went off and wounded his left hand. The suspects then fled on foot.

No descriptions were given of the suspects and no arrests have been made.
