The scoop: This marks the Hurricanes' third out-of-state game in four years. They are 1-1 outside of Florida, having defeated Pennsylvania's Woodland Hills in 2010 and fallen in double overtime to Maryland's Our Lady of Good Counsel in '11. ... Sunday is QB Josh Meyer's first regular-season varsity start after he ran for 133 yards in the spring against Tallahassee Lincoln and threw for a pair of touchdowns in a Kickoff Classic against Tarpon Springs East Lake. ... RB Trevon Walters, a Missouri commit, scored 20 TDs last season and rushed for 1,119 yards last year. ... One of the Canes' strengths is their offensive line, which returns four full-time starters and a pair of Division I commits in Jake Stickler (Georgia Tech) and Michael Galati (USF). ... The Greyhounds opened their regular season with a 20-14 win over Our Lady of Good Counsel, ranked No. 1 in Maryland at the time and 19th nationally by USA Today. They also ended Don Bosco Prep's 46-game winning streak last year. ... Gilman QB Kai Locksley rushed for 100 yards last week in his first varsity start. ... Gilman, which returns seven starters, has won the past two Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference titles and 11 under head coach Biff Poggi, entering his 17th season. ... Chibuzo Ukandu (6-foot-3, 259 pounds) is the only returning starter on the offensive line, which also includes 280-pound Sheldon Johnson.
