Boat ramp repairs on agenda
BRADENTON BEACH -- Manatee County officials will host an informal meeting to hear from the public about proposed repairs to the South Coquina boat ramp at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the boat ramp, 2651 South Gulf Drive.
Manatee County Parks and Recreation, Natural Resources, and Property Management officials will answer questions and to explain plans to upgrade the boat ramp.
Proposed upgrades include:
expanding the shell parking lot and associated stormwater areas to improve water quality from runoff. Designated trailer parking spaces would increase from 18 to 49;
better defined drive aisles and boat trailer parking spaces;
new sea turtle friendly lighting and native landscaping; and
concrete ramp into the water will be extended for boat ramp users and to direct storm water runoff away from the ramp.
Construction dates haven't yet been set.
Small business center workshop set Sept. 11
NORTH PORT -- The Small Business DevelopmentCenter at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, in partnership with the North Port and the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, will hold the "The Customer is King" workshop in the Small Business Lunch and Learn monthly series.
The workshop held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee at North Port, 5920 Pan American Blvd., North Port. is free and open to the public.
Jimmy Dean, publisher of Harbor Style Magazine, will explain the importance of customer follow-up.
Lunch will be provided free by Firehouse Subs and Lightspeed Voice.
