Bradenton Marauders lose in 10th to Jupiter Hammerheads

August 29, 2013

JUPITER – The Bradenton Marauders (29-32) let a 4-0 lead slip away in the eighth, falling 5-4 in 10 innings to the Jupiter Hammerheads (31-35) on Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium. Noah Perio’s squeeze bunt with one out and a steady rain falling in the 10th inning pushed across the winning run against Zac Fuesser (L, 2-4). Trailing 4-0 in the eighth inning, Jupiter sprung a four-run rally on Kirk Singer in his first and only inning on the hill. Sharif Othman hit a two-run homer to cut the lead in half. Singer issued three walks and two wild pitches, the second of which plated the tying run after Austin Nola had trimmed the lead to one with a single. The Marauders did all the scoring early. Dan Gamache singled in a run in the first inning against Scott Lyman. Jacob Stallings doubled in the second and scored on a sacrifice fly by D.J. Crumlich. Stetson Allie added an RBI-single in the third, and the Marauders tallied again in the inning on a double play grounder off the bat of Jose Osuna. Gift Ngoepe doubled twice and scored in the first and third innings against Lyman. Bradenton did not have a hit after the third. Frank Reed (W, 1-0) pitched the ninth and 10th for Jupiter to earn the win. Zack Dodson started and tossed five scoreless innings before a rain delay chased him in the sixth with nobody out. Dodson struck out six and walked only one. Zach Von Rosenberg returned from the disabled list to throw two scoreless innings. The Marauders return home Thursday for a doubleheader against the Fort Myers Miracle. Game one will be the resumption of a suspended game with the Marauders leading 2-0 in the fourth inning. The second game will be seven innings in length. Game one will resume at 5:00 p.m. Gates open at 4:30 p.m.
