Bradenton woman charged with armed robbery of 7-Eleven in Sarasota


SARASOTA -- A Bradenton woman has been charged with robbing a 7-Eleven store in Sarasota earlier this month, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Constance Carol Newbeck, 42, was arrested Tuesday in the Aug. 18 hold-up of a 7-Eleven on Clark Road, according to a news release.

The store clerk told detectives that a woman wearing a blonde wig and a black hooded sweatshirt had come in the store at about 4:40 a.m., told her she had a gun and demanded money from both registers, as well as three cartons of cigarettes.

Newbeck, who knew the clerk, contacted her during the investigation, apologized for robbing her and admityed she had used a real gun.

The U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in Newbeck's arrest.

Newbeck is charged with armed robbery and is being held at the Sarasota County jail without bond.
