Palmetto tiff over 'window coverings' leads to battery

PALMETTO -- A fight over window coverings between house mates has led to a battery charge in Palmetto, police say.

According to the Palmetto Police Department, Jeremy White, 25, battered two women in the 1300 block of Fifth Street West at 3:08 a.m. Friday.

The incident apparently started when White grabbed the victims' window coverings, threw them in a garbage can and threw bleach on them.

White then went into the victims' bedroom and snatched the window coverings off their wall, according to the report.

White then grabbed one victim by the throat, threw her on the bed and struck her in the mouth, the report states.

The second victim came to her defense, but White pushed her to the ground, the report states.

White allegedly pushed both women to the ground multiple times before they were able to get out of the house.

One victim suffered a bloody lip and redness to her neck. The other victim suffered a small cut to her chin and a large bump on her head, according to the report.

Alcohol was not involved in the incident, the report indicates.

This battery was White's sixth since 2009, according to Manatee County Sheriff's Office records.

White was arrested Friday and released the same day after posting $1,000 bond, which includes $500 for each battery, according to the sheriff's office website.
