Weather alert: Afternoon storms possible in Bradenton on Tuesday

MANATEE -- Tuesday will be another hot and perhaps stormy day in Bradenton.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 91 and heat index values as high as 99. Winds will be from the southeast at 7 to 10 mph.

There is a 40 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m., according to the Weather Service.

Tuesday night, the chance of rain drops to 30 percent, mainly after 11 p.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 75.

As of early Tuesday, the tropics were clear of any possible trouble, according to the National Hurricane Center.
