Cortez Road hit-and-run injures passenger

A passenger in a car involved in a hit-and-run crash on Cortez Road at 6:25 p.m. Sunday suffered a minor injury.

The crash on Cortez Road approaching Ninth Street W., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Ford Ranger driven by a 19-year-old Bradenton man with a 21-year-old passenger from Bradenton was heading west in the left lane.

A gray or blue Buick or Mercury with round tail lights was in the right lane. when it reportedly swerved into the left lane right into the path of the Ranger.

The Ranger driver hit the brakes hard and the vehicle began to rotate on wet pavement striking the right rear of the unknown vehicle, which then left the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any knowledge as to the identity and or location of the hit-and-run vehicle or driver are asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
