MANATEE -- Detectives continue the search for the two men responsible for a shooting in Manatee County Thursday afternoon that left one man dead and another injured.

Investigators now believe the suspects were using a gray or silver sedan at the time of the shooting, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Lytreeon Collins, 32, and and 18-year-old man were both sitting in the driveway of a duplex in the 4300 block of Eighth Street Court East when the two suspects got out of their vehicle and one began to shoot at both men, striking them.

The victims were both taken to a local hospital. Collins was later pronounced dead and the man who was shot in the leg is expected to recover.

“Detectives are working several leads in the case but at this time, no one has been charged in connection with the shooting,” Manatee County sheriff's spokesman Dave Bristow stated in a news release. “It is unclear if the shooting is connected to any other recent incident.”

Collins' death marks the ninth homicide in Manatee County this year.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011, ext. 2513 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477.
