Man charged with trying to rob IHOP in Bradenton

August 16, 2013

MANATEE -- A 37-year-old man was arrested late Thursday after he tried to rob an IHOP restaurant in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:43 p.m., the suspect, later identified as Dennis C. Lane, walked into the restaurant at 6320 State Road 64 E., approached two employees standing behind the front desk and demanded cash "while implying he was armed with a knife," a news release states.

The man left without obtaining any money and fled west on State Road 64 in his vehicle pulling a trailer, according to the report.

Armed with detailed descriptions provided by witnesses, responding deputies saturated the area and were able to stop Lane in the 5200 block of State Road 64, where he was arrested, the sheriff's office said.
