Scott Petersen, a member of the business litigation practice group in Becker & Poliakoff's Sarasota office, has earned certification from the Florida Bar in business litigation. Board certification is the Florida Bar's highest level of recognition of an attorney's competence and experience.

Certified lawyers make up fewer than 1 percent of all lawyers admitted to practice in Florida. Petersen supervises Becker & Poliakoff's collections and foreclosure practice for its west coast offices. In addition, he practices in community association litigation and covenant enforcement as well as commercial and real estate litigation. He has conducted jury and court trials in commercial, real estate and eminent domain matters, as well as written and argued appeals on behalf of clients in association, real estate and probate matters.

Petersen is a member and past chair of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast's corporate board and a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association board of directors. He is a member of the 2008 class of Leadership Sarasota.

David Shugol recently joined Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., 11009 Gatewood Drive, Suite 101 Lakewood Ranch, as a financial adviser.

Shugol's office specializes in providing a full range of investment planning services for individuals and families. As a member of one of the nation's leading independent financial services firms, Shugol offers clients customized plans.

Joshua Marius has joined United Systems Computer Group as its new business technology adviser, In his new role, Marius' main objectives will be to develop and implement IT solutions that will keep companies focused on and productive within the core of their businesses. With a background in engineering, Marius works to make sure that clients' servers, workstations and software solutions perform routinely and efficiently.

Holding a bachelor of science degree in computer engineering from the University of South Florida, Marius has extensive knowledge of various IT environments, operating systems and applications.

He specializes in network and systems administration, software programming, web design, data recovery and conducting engineering projects.

Yuliya Dodge has joined Gateway Bank of Southwest Florida as bank officer and assistant banking center manager.

Dodge will help manage the South Trail banking center at 1100 S. Tamiami Trail, at the corner of Bahia Vista Street. She will also support other Gateway banking centers in Sarasota and Bradenton as needed. Dodge joins Gateway Bank with seven years of banking experience within the Sarasota/Bradenton market.

Most recently, she worked at SunTrust Bank as a personal banker, where she excelled in providing exceptional customer service and establishing new account relationships.
