Donations sought for Manatee County family to help their little rape victim

Two weeks ago we looked at the face of evil through the camera lens of a Manatee County bus. In the background a little girl raced from an empty trailer to her own home, having just moments before been kidnapped, choked and raped by the man who was trying to escape on that bus.

Her courage and calm throughout the afternoon, along with that of her family, enabled the Manatee County Sheriff's Office to identify and arrest the perpetrator in two days.

This is a family with two working parents of small means. Their daughter will endure many years of doctor and therapy visits to try to overcome what most of us have never known.

While their immediate needs are being met, the resources they will need are not inexpensive. Support from Manatee and Sarasota County residents and businesses would show this close, loving family that we are people who have compassion for the wounded children in our community.
