Saint Stephen's Episcopal School students earn top honors

More than 1,200 students and teachers from across the country gathered for the National Junior Classical League's National Forum in Las Vegas at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas July 21-27 for competitions in academics, athletics, art, and the academic team style game known as Certamen. Fourteen Saint Stephen's students joined faculty members Alice and Geoff Revard at the National Forum, and they returned with several top 10 finishes (21 overall), all students placing in the top 25, a fourth place in Intermediate Certamen for Ethan Leuchter and Joseph Class (team captain), and a National Championship in Novice Certamen for MaryAnn Placheril (team captain).

In addition to these honors, Joseph Class took first place on the Greek Language test in his division (level 2), and was the best of show by attaining the highest score on that test including all students at all levels. Joseph achieved this while he studied Greek independently with assistance from Saint Stephen's teacher Geoff Revard.
