Police: 2 Bradenton men caught cold in A/C heist

BRADENTON -- It took police 38 minutes from call to arrest in the case of a pilfered window air conditioning unit in BRadenton

At 11:52 p.m. Wednesday, a neighbor on the 500 block of 20th Avenue West in Bradenton called police with a detailed description of two men in the process of taking an A/C unit from the carport of a home on her street, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

The carport area of the home, the neighbor said, is covered by an overhang and has furniture and tables used by the victim's family.

Racing to the scene, an officer saw two men on a nearby street fitting the description with a window A/C unit sitting on the ground right next to them, the report states.

By 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Paul Kimbell Pfeiffer, 30, and Alejandrino Alaffita, 38, were charged with burglary, the arrest report states.

The homeowner, when contacted by police, decided to press charges.

Both Pfeiffer and Alaffita were still in the Manatee County jail Thursday, being held subject to $7,500 bonds, according to the sheriff's office website.
