Running Sarasota stop sign results in minor injuries for three

— Florida Highway Patrol reported Monday a 2011 Ford Fusion driven by Karen Bassford, 68, of Nokomis, pulled in front of a 2004 Chevrolet 2500 driven by a 50-year-old North Port man at 2 p.m. causing a collision.

Bassford was eastbound on Baffin Drive in the left turn lane at the stop sign at the U.S. 41 intersection. The victim’s vehicle was southbound on U.S. 41 in the left lane approaching Baffin when Bassford tried to make a left turn and pulled directly into the path of the victim’s vehicle, according to FHP.

The front of the victim’s vehicle collided with the left side of Bassford’s car.

Bassford and a 32-year-old Bradenton woman passenger were taken to Venice Regional Hospital with minor injuries. An infant in the car was unharmed.

The victim was taken to Venice Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

Bassford was ticketed for violation of right-of-way.
