Letter: In Bradenton, park within the lines or pay a $25 fine

July 29, 2013

An unknown law: On a recent morning I was asked to go to the Manatee County Courthouse to help a friend verify a signature.

I parked across Manatee Ave. from our beautiful restored seat of county government in one of the new large free spaces and happened to park over the front lines. When I returned to my car, I had a parking ticket for $25.

Did anybody ever tell you it was forbidden to park over the lines (front or back) separating parking spaces? There are no signs requiring a vehicle to stay within the lines.

So remember what you learned in kindergarten: "Stay within the lines."
