Zack Dodson wins third straight decision as Bradenton Marauders down Brevard County

The Marauders (13-22) topped the Brevard County Manatees (15-18) 2-1 on Saturday night at Space Coast Stadium. The Marauders are on a three-game winning streak for the first time since June 22-24. Zack Dodson (W, 4-7) earned his third straight win for Bradenton with 6 1/3 innings of three-hit ball. He returned to the mound in the seventh after Benji Gonzalez snapped a 1-1 tie with a double to left. A one-out walk brought the call to the bullpen, and Emmanuel De Leon answered with a double play to end the seventh followed by a five-pitch eighth. Matt Benedict earned his second save with a perfect ninth. The Marauders scored first in the top of the third inning. Gonzalez singled off Jacob Barnes (L, 6-5) and moved to second on a bunt by Carlos Mesa. Alen Hanson doubled to give Bradenton a 1-0 lead. Gonzalez finished the game 3-for-4 The Manatees only run came in the bottom of the third inning. Ben McMahan snuck a double down the third base line with one out. D’Vontrey Richardson drove in McMahan with a two-out single to right.
