Car burglary suspected arrested in Manatee

— A burglary suspect was apprehended early Saturday after being bitten by a K-9 unit tracking him, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a news release, shortly before 3 a.m., a witness observed someone trying to enter vehicles in the parking lot in the 4500 block of Third Street Circle West, Bradenton, and called 911.

Deputies began a search of the area upon arrival at the scene. A K-9 unit found the suspect a short distance away, hiding in bushes. The police dog engaged the subject, biting him on the left bicep. The suspect surrendered.

The witness positively identified the man, Joshua Trevino, 28, as the man trying to burglarize the vehicles, the news release said.Vcitom of three other cars that may have been burglarized have been notified, deputies said.

Trevino was treated at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for bite wounds.
