Man beaten, robbed outside Manatee bar

July 27, 2013

— A man was beaten and robbed Friday evening after stepping outside a bar to use his phone, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.

According to a news release, the victim and his girlfriend were at the Oneco Rose Bar, 5108 15th St. E., Bradenton at about 9:50 p.m., when the victim received a phone call. The victim told deputies the bar was noisy, so he went outside to have the conversation.

While on the phone, the victim went behind some bushes to relieve himself, where he was grabbed by two unknown men wearing dark clothing, the news release said.

The two suspects began beating the victim, with one of the suspects hitting him in the head with a pistol. The suspects grabbed the victim's wallet and cell phone. The suspects went through the wallet and after finding no money threw it on the ground. The suspects kept the cell phone and fled west through a cemetery.

A canine unit was called but could not find the suspects.
