Pair arrested after trio of NW Bradenton burglaries

July 24, 2013

— Two suspects were arrested Wednesday for a trio of burglaries in northwest Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Barrett, 23, and Choncey Williams, 19, were charged with three counts of burglary.

Deputies responded to two burglaries in progress within minutes of each other just after 11:50 a.m. The first burglary was in the 600 block of 71st Street Northwest and the second was in the 7700 block of 20th Avenue Northwest. Witnesses told deputies the subjects were driving around in a white work van posing as construction workers. The suspects fled when a residential alarm went off.

A short while later a third burglary was reported in the 49OO block of 52nd Avenue West. A 39-year-old woman was inside her home when she heard two suspects beating on the door. They allegedly cut the pool cage to enter the home. The woman called 911 and the suspects fled once they saw her.

Deputies arrested the suspects shortly thereafter.

Barrett and Williams were being held at the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $15,000 each, according to jail records.
