Manatee sheriff: Deputies shoot suicidal man with Taser

— A Bradenton man was Tasered before being committed for a mental health evaluation at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred in the 3700 block of Manatee Avenue. Upon arrival , deputies reportedly found a man sitting in chair using a small kitchen knife to cut his left forearm, according to a report.

He was reportedly ordered to drop the knife but instead turned and faced deputies with knife still in hand, according to the sheriff's office.

A deputy Tasered the man and took him into custody. The man was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment and then taken into custody under the Baker Act.
