Sheriff: Homeless man beaten, robbed while sleeping behind Bradenton book store

MANATEE -- A homeless man was beaten and robbed while he was sleeping behind a Bradenton book store early Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1:30 a.m., the 41-year-old vicitim was sleeping behind Books A Million, 4225 14th St. W., when he was awaken by two males beating him.

The assailants tooks his wallet, cell phone and bicycle, according to a news release.

The robbery was not reported until 10:50 a.m., after the victim walked to his stepmother's home, the sheriff's office said.

Paramedics took the victim to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a cut knee, a bump on the side of his head and neck pain, according to the report.
