Drive-by shooting wounds 2 Manatee men

— Two men suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds during a drive-by shooting early Saturday in Manatee County.

The crime allegedly took place at 12:05 a.m. at 2113 56th Ave. Terrace E, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The victims told detectives they were sitting in the driveway when a silver vehicle drove by and its occpuants began shooting.

The victims fled over a neighbor’s fence and into the back yard. At least one suspect left the vehicle and reportedly fired several shots toward the fence the victims had jumped.

The victims fled the scene and were later found in the 2400 block of State Road 70 East. Blood and several shell casings were found around the driveway of the home where the shooting occurred. At least one bullet entered the garage and one hit the fence, authorities report.

Several more bullet holes were found in a Chevy sport utility vehicle in the driveway.

The two victims were reportedly uncooperative.

One victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and Christopher Strong was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

Strong was found to have a bullet wound to his buttocks. EMS took Strong to the hospital for treatment then to the Manatee County jail.
