FHP looking for a Manatee hit and run driver

MANATEE -- The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the driver responsible for a hit in run in Manatee County.

The hit and run took place at 6:25 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of 9th St. E. and 26th Ave. E., according to a news release.

A 28-year-old Bradenton man was driving his 1995 Nissan Pathfinder northbound on 9th St. E. approaching 26th Ave. E. and the other vehicle was in the left turn lane approaching from the south.

Daryl D. Harvey, who was driving the Pathfinder was going straight as he approached a steady green and proceed through the intersection but the other vehicle turned left without yielding. The front of the vehicle struck Harvey's Pathfinder. pushing it on to the shoulder of 9th Street East where the Pathfinder hit a telephone pole.

The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a dark colored Ford Explorer SUV.
