Sheriff: Man shot in argument with bicyclists in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 24-year-old man Friday afternoon was shot at least twice during a confrontation with two people riding by a bicycles, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:10 p.m., the victim was outside a residence in the 3500 block of Ninth Street East, when the two suspects rode by on bicycles on the opposite side of the street, according to a news release.

"For reasons unknown, the suspects and victim began arguing," the report states.

During the argument, one of the bicyclists pulled a handgun and fired at the victim, striking him in the back of both thighs, according to the sheriff's office.

The two suspects fled the area on foot, leaving their bicycles behind, the sheriff's office said.
