Manasota Dowsers Club: The Manasota Dowsers Club meets 6-8 p.m. July 23 and every fourth Tuesday of the month at the South Manatee Library, 6081 26th St. W., Bradenton. Dowsing is the ancient art of finding water and locating objects. Dowsing is also used to check conditions of the environment and for health. Membership is free and open to anyone interested. Smocking Arts Guild of America: The group meets July 24 and every fourth Wednesday of the month at the South Manatee County Branch Library, 6081 26th St. W., Bradenton. The group promotes education and quality workmanship in the fine needle arts including smocking, heirloom sewing, fine machine sewing, fine hand sewing, embroidery and the related needle arts. Swiss-American Club: The group meets at 6 p.m. July 25 and every last Thursday of the month at Saltwater Cafe, 1071 N. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis, for a social gathering called "Stammtisch," where friends meet for a bite to eat and chat about their life experiences. They celebrate typical Swiss events such as Swiss Independence Day on Aug. 1 and enjoy bi-monthly picnics at Oscar Scherer State Park and various other events such as dinners/lunches on specific dates throughout the year.
