Manatee County sales tax hike OK -- for sheriff's budget

July 17, 2013

Our sheriff is asking for a little help ...

If the Manatee County commission was thinking, they should have made the half-percent sales tax proposal to pay for the extra deputies and pay raises for those who protect us. Personally, I think it would have passed with flying colors.

I cannot imagine anyone not wanting the best protection for themselves and their families for a mere half-percent increase in the sales tax. This would have also helped get the protection needed in our schools.

I firmly believe that we must protect our own citizens first. If I had to vote on that today, I would vote with a resounding yes!

How do you feel?
