Weather alert: Storm advisory issued for northern Manatee County

MANATEE -- The National Weather Service has issued a "significant weather advisory" until 3 p.m. Tuesday for part of northern Manatee County.

At 2:05 p.m., Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of strong thunderstorms located along a line from Bartow Municipal Airport to six miles southwest of Duette, moving westward at 40 mph. The storms will affect Bartow, Homeland, Ruskin, Brandon, Tampa and St. Petersburg, according to the Weather Service.

The storms could produce winds of 45 to 55 mph, according to the advisory.

Also covered by the advisory Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and northwestern Hardee and southwestern Polk counties, according to the Weather Service.
