July 15, 2013

CLEARWATER -- A Redington Beach man is facing charges after deputies said he left a 3-year-old girl alone in a car while he went into a strip club.

Monty R. Grow, 42, is facing charges of child abuse in connection with the incident, which happened at 9:38 p.m. on Sunday.

Deputies said they were called to the Drive Time parking lot on U.S. 19 in Clearwater to investigate. When they arrived, the girl's grandparents were already there. They had removed the girl from the vehicle.

While deputies were investigating, Grow ran up to the car. Deputies said he admitted to leaving the child unattended while he went inside the Diamond Dolls strip club.

The girl was not injured.

Grow, who played football at the University of Florida, was taken to Pinellas County Jail. He has since been released on $5,000 bond.
