Manatee under flood warning

— The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Manatee River near Myakka head until 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

The river is expected to rise above flood stage of 11 feet Saturday morning and reach 11.5 feet by Saturday afternoon, before subsiding Saturday night.

Forecaster expect minor flooding in agricultural and rural areas. In Sarasota County at Myakka State Park, the river was 0.1 feet above the flood stage of 7.0 feet at 8 p.m. Friday, the weather service said.

At 7 feet, trails, picnic areas and parking lots in the park have flooded in the past.

The water level is expected to fall below flood stage by early Sunday afternoon.
