Man pistol-whipped during robbery in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A 63-year-old man was pistol-whipped and robbed early Thursday in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:10 a.m. the victim had just returned to his residence in the Wayside Glen Mobile Home Park, 5120 14th St. W., when a small compact vehicle drove up alongside him., according to a news release. He had returned from the Racetrac gas station at 5410 14th St. W.

The woman asked for directions to Palmetto, and as the victim approached the vehicle two men got out and pointed a pistol at him, according to the report.

The men demanded money, and the victim handed over his wallet. They then frisked and pistol-whipped him, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspects then fled east out of the trailer park.

The suspects were described as being about 20 years old. Both male suspects stood between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet tall. One was wearing light clothing with a hoodie, the other was wearing dark clothing, according to the sheriff's office.
