MANATEE -- A Palmetto law firm is providing more financial help to college-bound students in Manatee County.

Kallins, Little, and Delgado Personal Injury Attorneys has been running its scholarship program since 2006.

The firm held its eighth annual Kallins, Little and Delgado Scholarship Banquet at the IMG Country Club in May, where it awarded 11 students $14,000 in scholarships. Since the inception of the law firm's scholarship program, Kallins, Little and Delgado has given out $115,000 in scholarships to 79 students.

Winners were chosen based on grade-point average, community service, extracurricular activities and an essay.

Sarah Stevens of Southeast High School received a $3,000 scholarship.

Jordan Sanders of Braden River High School, Ian Kaye of Sarasota Military Academy and Melissa McCoy of Bradenton Christian all received $2,000 scholarships.

Kathryn Raines and Brianna Incardone and Shiloh Magann of Manatee High School, Braden Causey and Muriel Gardener of Bayshore High School, Matthew Vaadi of Lakewood Ranch High School and Nicholas Orluski of Palmetto High School all received $1,000 scholarships.

Kallins, Little, and Delgado hopes other community businesses also start scholarship programs.
