Bradenton burglary suspect surprised by homeowner

July 10, 2013

— A Bradenton man was arrested for burglary after a homeowner spotted him in the act, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

Jerry Bivins, 33, was charged with burglary Wednesday.

The homeowner arrived home on the 1500 block of 7th Avenue East at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday and spotted Bivins inside, according to officers.

Bivins jumped out the window but the homeowner told law enforcement officers a possible address where he could be found. The Manatee Sheriff’s Office responded found him at the address.

As Bivins was arrested, a deputy injured his knee.

Court records show Bivins has been charged with burglary three times before and attempted burglary once.
