Woman, 74, struck, killed while trying to cross U.S. 41 in Palmetto on scooter

MANATEE -- A 74-year-old woman riding an electric scooter was struck and killed Monday by a car while trying to cross U.S. 41 in Palmetto, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Sally Dudley was crossing U.S. 41 from east to west, when she was struck by the driver of a vehicle going east on 23rd Street East, FHP said in a news release.

The car struck Dudley on her left side, according to the report.

The driver of the car, a 50-year-old Palmetto woman, was cited for failing to use due care with a pedestrian, according to FHP.
