Man arrested after drive-by shooting in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A 21-year-old man has been charged with shooting another man in a drive-by shooting in Bradenton, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

About 2:35 p.m. Sunday, someone in a vehicle driving north in the 900 block of 19th Street Court East opened fire on people standing in a backyard, police said.

One of the people backyard returned fire, getting off four rounds, police said.

Another person in the yard was struck in the lower right calf.

"At this time it is undetermined which shooter injured the victim," the report states.

He was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Police later located Renal Marcelin who during questioning admitted to shooting a gun from the car.

Marcelin told detectives that another man in the car had given him in the gun, according to police.

Marcelin was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail. He also faces charges of violating his probation for previous convictions for burglary and grand theft, according to the jail website.
