1 stabbed at party in Palmetto

MANATEE -- One man was stabbed after a fight broke out at a party late Sunday in Palmetto, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 10:10 p.m., there was a party on the rear pool lanai of a residence in the 4200 block of Magnolia Drive, when an unknown man "became aggressive with some of the female atendees of the party," a news release states.

The victim and his friends confronted the suspect and his friends and a fight started.

During the fight, the victim, a 26-year-old man, was stabbed in the abdomen, according to the report.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was being held for surgery. The injury was not expected to be life threatening, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation is continuing, according to the sheriff's office.
