1 stabbed, 1 arrested after fight in Bradenton

MANATEE -- One person was arrested after a fight that ended with another man stabbed in Bradenton late Sunday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 11:14 p.m., a 46-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were out front of their house in the 3800 block of 51st Street West, when a pickup truck pulled up front and five individuals got out, according to a news release.

Two of the occupants approached the two men in front of the house and a fight ensued..

The older victim's son was inside the house and heard the commotion. He armed himself with a knife and went outside to see his father and the other victim getting beaten by two of the suspects, according to the sheriff's office.

The son then began stabbing one of the attackers in the torso.

The two suspects went back to the truck and the man who had been stabbed grabbed a baseball bat and approached the victims in a threatening manner. The victims retreated into the house and called 911, according to the report.

The suspects then fled, but they were soon stopped by responding deputies. The suspect who was stabbed was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect who was driving, Michael J. Harrington, 19, was arrested and charged with battery. He was being held on $500 bond at the Manatee County jail

The investigation is continuing, according to the sheriff's office.
