Parrish residents injured in crash

MANATEE -- Two Parrish residents sustained minor injuries in a hit-and-run crash Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to a news release, a vehicle described as a silver pick-up was westbound on U.S. Highway 301 west of Old Tampa Road, and had stopped in the left turn lane to make a U-turn.

A second vehicle, a 2003 Honda, was eastbound on U.S. 301 in the right lane. The pick-up attempted to make a U-turn and moved into the path of the Honda. The drive of the Honda swerved to avoid the pick-up and overturned, the news release said.

The driver of the pick-up fled the scene eastbound on U.S. 301.

The two occupants of the Honda were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, the FHP said.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any knowledge as to the identity or location of the driver or vehicle, is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
