SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man was arrested and charged with molesting a 14-year-old girl, according to Sarasota Police Department.

Joshua Riley, 22, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and charged with capital sexual battery and incest, an arrest report said.

Detectives were called to the police station in response to a reported sexual battery.

The victim made the initial disclosure to a friend on June 27, police said.

Once it was reported, Riley agreed to be interviewed by detectives as well as take a polygraph.

During the interview, Riley confessed to forcing the victim to have sex when he was 8 years old. She would have been an infant at the time.

Riley said the sex continued until he was 10. According to the victim, Riley would use a butter knife to unlock her bedroom door and come in and assault her on her bed.

Riley is being held with no bond, due to the charge of capital sexual battery, which also can bring a life sentence in prison.
