Bradenton family awakened by gun-toting invader

BRADENTON -- A family of three were ripped from their sleep when an intruder barged into their home early Friday morning, according to Bradenton police.

A man kicked down the door of a home on the 1900 block of 10th Avenue West at 4:58 a.m., Bradenton Police Deputy Chief Warren Merriman said.

Armed with a handgun, the suspect confronted the family.

"He threatened to shoot them," Merriman said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect made off with the homeowners' wallets and purses.
