MANATEE -- Intertape Polymer Group is moving from its long-time Bradenton home to Sarasota, a county official said Friday.

The company will be moving from its facility at 3647 Cortez Road W. to a new home in Sarasota, said Cheri Coryea, Manatee County's director of neighborhood services, who supervises the county's economic development program.

"It was a building issue, they wanted to consolidate and expand, they were looking for something the size they needed, in proximity to I-75," said Coryea.

The county's economic development staff had attempted to help the company remain in Manatee County, but was unable to match it specific requirements, she added.

"Luckily, they're not going too far away," Coryea said Friday. "We just didn't have access to a building to meet their proximity and size needs.

"Hopefully all the people from Manatee County who work there can transition a little farther," she said.

Until now headquartered in Bradenton and Montreal, Quebec, Intertape manufactures a variety of film-based pressure sensitive and water-adhesive tapes, films, fabrics and packaging systems.
