Miami man accused of rape allegedly posed as a photographer on Craigslist

MIAMI -- A man in Miami charged with rape attracted some of his victims posing as a photographer on Craigslist, the web page of classified ads, police said.

The man, identified by Miami-Dade Police as Anthony Molina-Iglesias, 30, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of sexual assault (one with the use of a weapon).

In the most recent incident, on June 28, two women said they knew Molina-Iglesias through Craigslist, the police report states.

According to the report:

The women, ages 20 and 23, traveled from Orlando to Miami under the impression that Molina-Iglesias was going to take their pictures for modeling. Instead, they became victims of the suspect.

At about 3 p.m., Molina-Iglesias got in the car of one of the victims and directed her to a series of empty lots with wooded areas in the outskirts of Miami, close to 129th Avenue NW and 13th Street. Molina-Iglesias took the 23-year-old deeper into the wooded area while the 20-year-old remained next to her car changing her clothes for what she thought was going to be a photo shoot.

Once he moved away from the car, Molina-Iglesias choked the woman until she fainted and fell, according to the police report. Then he tied her hands behind her back with plastic bands, ripped off her clothes and raped her.

Molina-Iglesias returned to the car and guided the second victim to the wooded are and he also strangled her and tied her hands. The police report does not say whether Molina-Iglesias raped the second woman.

The suspect fled the scene in the car of the first victim, leaving both women behind.

This is the second time Molina-Iglesias is accused of posing as a photographer to rape a woman. The first accusation relates to an incident on Feb. 13 with a 20-year-old woman who said she had known the suspect through a friend.

Molina-Iglesias promised the young woman free modeling photos, according to the police report, which said he took her to the same isolated wooded area and raped her at gunpoint.

“I know he was charged. But I don’t know whether he did it or not,” said José Iglesias, Molina-Iglesias’s uncle, to CBS 4. “We are stunned by this. In case he really did it.”
