Sarasota police identify woman found dead at bus station

SARASOTA -- Police have identified the woman who was found last week dead at the downtown SCAT Bus Transfer Station in Sarasota.

Randa Lou Welch, 56, was discovered dead at 4 a.m. Friday when a group of people flagged down a passing officer.

Officers believed Welch was homeless and had been staying at the station while the storms passes through the area.

The initial investigation by the Sarasota Police Department showed no evidence of foul play, but an autopsy was conducted to determine the cause of death.

The cause has yet to be released.
