Sheriff: 3 caught stealing TVs from Walmart in Sarasota

SARASOTA -- The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three Charlotte County men caught trying to steal two flat screen televisions from Walmart on Cattlemen Road in Sarasota, according to a news release.

The store loss prevention officer contacted deputies about 6 p.m. Tuesday after seeing two customers leave without paying for two large televisions. according to the report.

Deputies located the suspects in the parking lot and both tried to flee the scene but were quickly taken into custody. Deputies approached a third suspect who was waiting for the men in a red Ford Explorer but he sped away, accelerating past other vehicles and shoppers. Deputies stopped the suspect at Casa Del Sol and took him into custody, according to the sheriff's office.

Sean Joyce, 26, and Carlos Richart, 32, both of Punta Gorda, each of whom have criminal histories in Sarasota County, are charged with grand theft and resisting an officer without violence.

Bruce Swartz, 26, of Port Charlotte, is charged with principal to grand theft, reckless driving and resisting arrest without violence.
