1 arrested after robbery at Sarasota restaurant

SARASOTA -- One of two suspects was arrested after they tried to rob a Sarasota restaurant Tuesday afternoon, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

About 4:20 p.m., two men robbed Ho's Garden Restaurant, 3234 17th St., Sarasota.

The suspects demanded cash, and when an employee refused one of the suspects grabbed and held her while the other tried unsuccessfully to open the cash register, according to a news release.

The suspects eventually fled and a witness called 911. The victim was not injured, and no weapons were seen or implied, according to the sheriff's office.

Further investigation lead to the arrest of John J. Mullins, 52, but the second suspect remained at large.

Mullins was charged with robbery and was being held without bond at the Sarasota County jail
