State College of Florida supports dual enrollment program with school districts

July 2, 2013

I appreciate the opportunity to make your readers aware of the progress that State College of Florida and the Manatee and Sarasota school systems are making on articulation agreements responsive to new dual enrollment legislation.

SCF has a long history of successfully collaborating with our school systems. I believe that a strong system makes a stronger college.

I have reached out to superintendents Rick Mills and Lori White to schedule discussions about how we can continue to support our mutual desire to provide a strong dual enrollment program.

Although the Florida Department of Education has just released advisories for creating agreements, some productive conversations already have taken place with our local K-12 partners.

We are looking forward to creatively developing long-term solutions that will allow us to continue offering this acceleration option. Our successful SCF dual enrollment program benefits many of our students and their families and thus our communities.
