Man beaten in failed robbery try in Bradenton

BRADENTON -- A man was beaten during a failed robbery attempt Sunday night in Bradenton, according to police.

About 10:29 p.m., the victim was outside his trailer in the 2200 block of Fifth Avenue Drive East, when an assailant hit him over the head with an unknown object, according to a Bradenton police report.

"Neighbors heard a shot ring out. One casing was found on scene," the report states.

The suspect fled without taking anything, police said.

The victim suffered a minor laceration to the head and was treated on scene, according to police.
