Realtor Rick Tritschler has joined the Sarasota office of RE/MAX Alliance Group. A real estate professional with 27 years of experience, Tritschler was previously affiliated with RE/MAX Effort Realty and Michael Saunders & Company. A Sarasota native, Tritschler specializes in REO, waterfront and golf course properties. He has maintained a five-star real estate agent status for 10 years, and in 2011 he generated more than $14 million in sales and more than 120 closings. He is a certified distressed property expert (CDPE) and luxury property specialist. Tritschler and his wife have five children.

Attorney Derek A. Reams has become a Florida board-certified trial lawyer. Reams earned certification because of his trial experience and recommendations from other lawyers and judges, as well as passing the Florida certified trial lawyer exam. Being board-certified is a distinction held by fewer than 7 percent of Florida lawyers. Reams is the chief trial attorney for McCue, Reams and Associates, Leonard A. McCue, P.A., in Bradenton. Reams received his undergraduate degree in 1997 in criminal justice from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was also a scholarship baseball player. After receiving his degree, he worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement before deciding to attend law school at the University of Mississippi in Oxford.

William B. Adams has joined SkinSmart Dermatology, making SkinSmart the only dermatology practice from Tampa to Fort Myers offering two fellowship-trained Mohs skin cancer surgeons. Adams received a bachelor of science degree from Wake Forest University and his doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington.

Troy and Jenifer Funk, formerly with RE/MAX, have opened their own branch office with Allison James Estates & Homes, an Internet-based real estate company where agents can earn 100 percent commission for a small monthly fee. Troy Funk has assumed the role of branch manager and recruiter for Allison James's operations in Sarasota, at 665 S. Orange Ave., Suite 2.

The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee's College Scholarship Program awarded more than $60,000 to 31 students from Sarasota and Manatee counties. The 2013 scholarship recipients are Alexander Balno, Guy Bean, Joshua Brin, Alina Chevtsov, Tali Cohen, Valerie Daniel, Evan Glazer, Brianna Golden, Nicholas Green, Crystal Greenberg, Brandon Ikeman, Dana Kulbersh, Flana Levando, Jay Manson, Haven Miller, Melody Mishkin, Jesare Morano, Nick Pasternack, Amanda Russo, Rebecca Schild, Ryan Shifman, Sam Silverberg, Julianne Simson, Lauren Singer, Maxwell Strauss, Hannah Tishman, Livvy Tishman, Leo Tuck, Erin Weinberger, Emily Woolf and Abby Wright.
